SOCSO Revival Vocational Satellite Centre

Due to the nature of their work environment, workers are more likely to experience physical injuries throughout their employment. One of the most critical issues among the employees is the absence from work due to injury at work, accidents, or illnesses. Hence, the Social Security Organization of Malaysia introduced the Return to Work Program in 2007 which is a comprehensive multidisciplinary biopsychosocial rehabilitation for its Insured Persons who are experiencing disability due to accidents in the workplace or those claiming for invalidity.

RTW is the only occupational rehabilitation program in Malaysia to tackle the Ministry of Human Resources and SOCSO's concerns about the safety and well-being of Malaysian workers. (Chan et al., 2011). The RTW program needs to be expanded so that the workforce in Malaysia does not sacrifice productivity, as the new SOCSO system is only 36% of the total workforce. (Awang et al., 2015). There are significant disparities in the ongoing process of injured workers' clinical care and recovery in readiness for return-to-work. There is a need to improve occupational health policies to ensure that once Insured Persons are able to be successfully directed back to their full work potential and that companies are willing to accept them.
